Secret Society Girl Release!
Secret Society Girl by Diana Peterfreund released today! Congratulations Diana! What an accomplishment.
The short of it:
Amy Haskel is a junior at Eli University. Thinking she is being inducted into the "literary society" Amy answers a strangely vague phone call requesting her presence. Once she arrives she realizes that it's not the society she thought at all but one that is surrounded in mystery and secrecy.
Okay, that's as far as I have gotten but I am loving it! For someone who is almost anti-Chick Lit I'm really enjoying this book. I think it is the mystery of it. I'm not sure if there is any real kind of romance story in here, I'll let you know when I finish!
Here is a review from Teens Read Too
And here's Angie's review.
Anywho, Diana has been doing a count down on her blog for the last 8 days and I took these pics for her. My book store drama below the cut...
I went to Barnes and Noble in Melbourne, Florida today and picked up my very own copy of SSG! It wasn't even on the shelves yet! I looked everywhere and then asked at the customer service desk. The guy went into the back and got a huge stack and brought them out. I asked if he was going to put them on the shelves because I wanted to take a picture. Oh was that a mistake! They had to call the customer relations girl who wasn't sure about me taking a picture because of copyright, blah, blah, blah. She went to go ask her boss and never came back! So, after I had read the first two chapters of SSG while waiting I snapped my contraband pics! hehe. Here they are...they are a little blurry because I was trying not to have my camera confiscated!
And this last one is for fun. Diana's two biggest fans...Cuff and Link. Notice Cuff is trying to eat SSG!
On an ending note I just want to say how wonderful I think Diana is. I know I've spoken to some of you about your varying viewpoints about said author, but she is really cool. Diana and I traded e-mails and I was very impressed with her. Congrats again Diana!

9 touched me
LMAO! Contriband pictures rock! LOL
That's funny. I can just see the entire store in an uproar over you wanting to take them. LOL
I'll buy this book if you buy Midnight Sun by Rene Lyons. Deal?
I already bought Rene's book! I bought it at 9 am this freakin morning! Woo-Hoo...go Fi! I rock! Of course, I've had download issues but MBaM is AWESOME with returning e-mails and I should finally have it in a little bit. I'm just not going to post until I actually have the download in my hands and can rave about how wonderful MBaM was about helping me.

I'm getting this book, soon I hope.
maybe the mystery is to find out if there is any romance. I hate chick lit but do let us know if this is realy worth a read. or at least more about the plot. lol.
Hi Fiona, :)
I like chic lit. But i've never heard of Diana P. Is it really good? But the main character, she's only a junior? Sort of young for the usual late 20-something chiclit books have.. But it looks good. Looks like a mystery of sort. :P
P.S. Been meaning to say, love the new look of your blog. Very cute!
I will Mailyn.
Hey Harlot. Amy is only 20 (I think) but I know there is a sequel coming out. So perhaps this is going to be one of those series where we follow Amy through the trials and tribs of young adulthood?
I'll let you all know more when I finish reading!

I had the "you can't take pictures here" response too...but I told him (I assume the Asst. Mgr?) everyone was doing it and we were all blogging about it and he said that he just wouldn't notice what I was doing. ;) Then he said maybe he'd read the book!
how massively insecure is diana peterfruend that she can't allow a negative comments on someone's personal blog, and must go on a charm offensive to get fiona to change her june blog entry? diana, addiction to self-google is a very sad thing. it's nice that diana has passed out enough kool aid to make bloggers sing her personal praises, but it isn't about the author's personality. it's about whether the work is good, and the reviews i'm reading from people other than diana's bestest buds are pretty mediocre.
Hello...again...Anonymous,
My, what a bone you have to pick. Diana didn't go on a charm offensive. She left a comment and then changed her mind. Being the piranha that I am, I didn't (couldn't) let it go and e-mailed Mrs. Peterfreund answering the question she asked. She responded, we conversed.
I may be a lot of things, but denial of free speech (see your post? Yep, still up), being easily swayed and passive advertsing are not among them. I do, however, listen to both sides of each story. I am a teacher, how could I not? Mrs. Peterfreund has earned my posts because I enjoy her blog, am/was interested in the premise of her book, but most importantly, am enjoying the read immensely.
You have a right to your thoughts. You have just as much right to hate Diana as I have to like her. I feel quite honored. You are my first anonymous blogger! Yippee for me.
Have a great day...off to eat my cheerios.
Fiona
