I'll take one Alpha please...

So if you don't know by now, I have a thing for alpha males.

I like 'em strong and hot and authoritative....Rrrraaaaaarrrrr.

So of course, I am an Alex fan on Grey's Anatomy. Many can not take his asshole-ish behavior...but I love it. And last night Alex came through. As Izzie lay on the hospital bed crying and clutching the body of her dead love, Alex came and spoke the words she needed to hear, picked her up and cradled her sobbing body to him. What a man. *sigh* I was crying more for Alex than I was for Izzie. There he was, comforting the women he loves as she weeps for another. Good stuff.

And then Izzie walks out of the hospital, back ramrod stiff, in her deflated pink prom dress with Alex and George following behind her on the stairs...somebody give that writer a cookie!

Obviously there is a clear line for many readers what a hero can't do. Kick a dog, sleep around, rape someone, murder.... But what about the other end of the spectrum? I like Alphas and can forgive a lot (because I grew up with men?) more of the violent reactions than I can the softer ones. Deal breakers for me...men who cry. Can't stand it! Drives me crazy! Real life or fiction I just want to yell, "Suck it up!"

What about you? What lines do the betas cross that get your panties in a bunch?

hmmm, where did you get that he loves Izzy? I'm not doubting you, I just didn't reach the same conclusion.

In terms of dealbreakers for Alphas, yeah aside from the obvious ones, I don't have patience with crying men. I also don't have much patience with shy men either, which is somewhat hypocritcal of me since I definitely embrace my shyness. But whatever, you're a man! Suck it up!

I love alphas, too. Smart alphas (as opposed to AlphaSmart!, ho, ho!), not the Neanderthal kind.

I just wish I could write them better. Drat.

And i don't watch GA, but I have definitely been interested in it. Maybe someday, when I have less to do.

Jay, personally I think Alex has had a thing for Izzie since the whole "will I pass the test?" episodes. He couldn't be with Izzie because he wasn't confident with himself and I think the whole sleeping with Olivia thing was to prove to himself that he was still a 'man'. If he didn't love Izzie, then he wouldn't have all of this anger about her and Denny. He just wouldn't care. That's Alex's MO...he just doesn't give a shit.

I think I 'get' Alex. We as an audience don't have the pleasure of knowing what he is thinking like we would if he was a character in a book, so I'm filling in the mental stuff for myself...and I say he loves her.

I completely agree that other people could read him differently.

As for reading people, I just don't get Yang. I don't understand any of the freaking things she does. I have a friend here at work who is, shall we say, waspish. She 'gets' Christina in a way I will never understand.

Gosh, what a great show.

Jay, shyness is another one. I'm also not fond of masterbation. If he is such an alpha, I expect him to have found a woman to give him 'release'. LOL

Language is another problem with alphas. You have this strong, kick ass, I don't take crap from nobody attitude and then he goes and says, "Buggers." Arg!

And Megan! You have three months to get all caught up on that wonderful WIP so you can start watching season 3 with me!

I was sooo going to blog about GA. I think the actor and actress who played Benny and Izzy should win awards. I was a sobbing wreck and I was madly in love with Benny.

That said, I still get to say that I love Alex even though I would like to beat him up every once in a while. And yes, Alex loves Izzy.

Benny and Izzy's story was the only one I was really interested in. I was pissed with Yang, I liked George's story but hearing McDreamy keep asking 'what does this mean?' after you know - I think I would have walked out and never looked back. If you can't man up and look at all the people you are hurting then you are not worth it.

Alex was the one who picked up Izzy and I just melted.

Oh dang there was a question. Let's just say that I think McDreamy is a beta and screwing up like there is no tomorrow really pisses me off. She practically begged him to choose her and he chose his wife. He doesn't get the right to then chase her.

I know some of you have mentioned crying but Benny was an alpha forced into a beta position because of his health and he was so friggin' beautiful. I just loved that man. I would have stood there and tossed the blonde over and said 'choose me'.

CindyS (still in PMS and weepy so I may not be making a lot of sense)

Cindy, I'm amused that across the board you've called him Benny. lol You know that's not his name right?

I don't think that McDreamy is a beta boy. I'm not sure I think he's an alpha but he's not beta to me either. Gamma maybe? I'd have to go hunt down the definitions again.

Fiona, I'd actually take masturbation over finding someone else. At least that way you can claim you thought about me the whole time you were 5-fingering it up. I'm going to be way less forgiving if you try to throw me the "Yeah, I did her, but I thought about you the whole time" line.

Oh, Jay, no. When I talked about masturbation I meant before hero meets heroine. I read a book once where the hero was a definite alpha and he had been traveling the country for years being a great big bad menace to society but 'pleasuring himself'. I didn't buy that.

I am getting such a chuckle out of the spelling of the GA characters! Do you know how many different ways I have seen Izzie's name spelled?

That said...I did not like Denny. The whole "I was a great big virile man of a man" just wasn't working for me.
