ebooks=horror movies?

So how could I head out for the evening without talking about ebooks? I read several ebooks about 3-4 years ago and then I fell out of the ‘circuit’. I’ve been back with the on-line crowd for several months now and when I needed a ‘fix’, I knew just were to go: Ellora’s Cave. I was always under the impression that ebooks were rated under a category much like horror movies. Horror movies aren’t judged for the quality of the plot, it is the blood, guts, gore and scream value. Aren’t ebooks for the sex? Penthouse anthologies aren’t bought for the plot lines, are they? I’ll admit what many won’t…I read ebooks for the sex! Woo-Hoo, I said it! They are easily accessible, convenient, allow privacy and are erotic.

I recently bought Ablaze by Kit Tunstall from Ellora’s Cave. Was it good? According to whose standards? The sex scenes were nice, but I skimmed most of the 'other stuff' (go ahead, gasp and grasp your heart). I certainly don’t hold those stories to the same standards I hold Quinn, McNaught and Lindsey. Should I? Is that fair? If that was the case, I would never read past the first page.

So am I mean or just brutally honest? Don’t know, *whispering* don’t care. However, I am looking forward to reading all of these ebook reviews that will be coming from Angie.

On a side note, I just finished watching Hostel and Million Dollar Baby. I was wondering, Wendy, if you would let me borrow that razor blade when you're finished with it?

HOSTEL is utterly crap. To be fair, it does have its moments, but damn. The quality of his script had me feeling the deepest depth of despair.

As for MILLION DOLLAR BABY? I won't even go there. You have *no* idea how much I dislike that blatantly manipulative, shallow little turd. I almost threw myself out of a window when it won an Academy Award/Oscar for Best Film. It's [industry] politics at its finest.

LOL Maili.

Linc and I are horror buffs, but I didn't like Hostel. Linc gave it points for all the sex/nudity...men!

And I KNEW there was a reason why I hadn't watched MDB yet, unfortunately, now I know why.

How unfair to the authors. I read a great many of EC's books, and I think several of their authors are equal to, or better than, Quinn, MacNaught, and Lindsay. If all you want is smut, why pay $6 for an ebook? You can find free porn all over the 'Net.
